Corny, I know, but I couldn’t help it. Cel-egg-brating? I think that’s a pretty clever one! If you love all things pastel, chocolatey, and fluffy, Easter is probably your favorite holiday. I have loved Easter since I was a kid; a holiday that mainstream society celebrates with baby animals? Yes, please! It’s also EXTREMELY FUN. Many places around the city are offering free Easter egg hunts and all-day festivals; here are a few around town:

If you’re in one of Camden’s Westchase area apartments, the Easter Eggstravaganza at Quillian Center (10570 Westpark Drive, Houston 77042) is the place for you. According to Quillian’s website, “This is a FREE community event and children are invited to participate in the egg hunt with candy and prizes. The event begins at 9:00am with Breakfast with the Bunny, face painting, arts and crafts projects, games, train rides, pony rides, moon walks, and a petting zoo. There will be an Easter Basket contest as special prizes for golden eggs. The egg hunt begins at noon and after the hunt children can “recycle” their eggs and redeem them for candy and prizes.” Learn more here. You can keep up with all the Westchase area’s activities by visiting Camden Westchase on Facebook.

North side of town? Try Mountasia’s hunt on Saturday the 23rd with over 2000 eggs! More information can be found at their website here. This is close and convenient for Camden Yorktown residents!

A hunt worth the drive? I know TWO! Easter in the Garden at Moody Gardens in Galveston is a FREE afternoon with a  petting zoo, music, arts & crafts and plenty of games and prizes. The annual Easter Egg Hunts takes place each year for children 12 and younger, and photos are available with the Easter Bunny inside the Moody Gardens Hotel.

Whether you have kids or not, Easter is fun. Make baskets and celebrate the day! There are tons of ideas for basket fillers besides candy and sweets (and ducklings and bunnies). Visit your local party superstore and get creative! You can use small party favors for kids, or stuffed animals, or art supplies… well, you get it. For adults, try riddles or clues that must be collected and solved to receive a larger prize. I will leave you with a photo of my own bunny, Mr. Bun; you can rest assured that he will be joining in ALL my household’s Easter activities!
