The Mission of A Child’s Place
“A Child’s Place (ACP) works to erase the impact of homelessness on children and their education.”
The Charlotte Camden Cares chapter volunteered at A Child’s Place on November 18th, 2014.
Camden volunteers set out to set up care boxes filled with non perishable food items donated from Second Harvest Food Bank and gift cards gifted by private donors. These boxes were then boxed and delivered to various volunteer groups to deliver.
The Camden volunteers helped unload the truck and then assisted in the delivery of the care packages to 10 area schools and the A Child’s Place main office in downtown Charlotte.
The children in need will be fed at their schools through breakfast and lunches, but when school break is upon them, the kids will use the boxed care packages/donations to get them through until the following school year. The families of the children can come and pick up the donation boxes to bring them home so that the kids are able to eat until the school year starts again.
The Camden volunteers helped distribute approximately 300 meals to homeless children and their families for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
If you or anyone you know would like to donate goods or volunteer time to assist your fellow man, please visit www.achildsplace.org for more information.
Remember that the first step toward change and a better world starts with you.
