American Red Cross Blood Drive

Last month Camden Main & Jamboree participated in our first blood drive! The bloodmobile came to our community from 2- 8 pm, fully staffed with nurses and volunteers. It was a great day watching our residents and community members take time out to donate to such an important cause. Our results exceeded the goal of the Red Cross for the day. We had 23 donors, 16 of those were first time donors, and collected 20 units. This will help up to 60 patients at the local hospitals!

The American Red Cross consists of a network of donors, volunteers and employees who share a common mission of preventing and relieving suffering to those in need here at home and around the world. There are 5 service areas that the Red Cross focuses on:

Disaster Relief: The Red Cross responds to over 70,000 disasters in the US every year ranging from home fires to hurricanes to earthquakes. In these events the Red Cross provides food, shelter, health services to families and communities. They will also work with other agencies and organizations to provide services to the victims.

Supporting America’s Military Families: The Red Cross helps military member, veterans, and their families cope with the challenges of military service. Emergency communications, training, support to the wounded, and community resources help approximately 150,000 families and veterans annually.

Lifesaving Blood: Donations of blood make the Red Cross the largest single supplier of blood in the U.S. Each year over 4 million people donate, which helps provide more then 40% of America’s blood supply.

Health & Safety Services: The Red Cross is the leading provider of health and safety courses, which consists of CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard training. Every year over 9 million people participate in these courses including schools, babysitters, companies, first responders, and many more!
