Now that “A Day in the Life of a Camden Employee” told us what it feels like working for a great place to work, let me challenge your mind some more by asking if you know what our Camden staff actually does all day? You see them hustling around all day, but what exactly do they do? As you may know, your onsite staff is divided between office and maintenance. They all handle a different aspect of your day to day life.
The first installment of the “What exactly does a ________ do? series will be focused on your: Community Leasing Consultant!
The last time I asked a resident what they thought we did they said: “I don’t know. Look pretty and do tours?”
This is what inspired me to write this blog series. Although they all hope to “look pretty/handsome” while doing tours, they also spend a great deal of time doing a variety of other things.
Yes, yes and yes! When you need a home, your leasing consultant is always there to help. They walk, run and ride golf carts. They climb stairs, ride elevators and use ramps to get you into your new home. They do all of this with a smile, whether rain or shine. Why? Because finding you the perfect home is worth it to them!
They Retain Current Residents!
New residents are very special to your leasing consultant, but it is also very important to remember the current/longtime residents. Your leasing consultant is focused on making everyone happy in order to make sure their communities are great places to live. Building and sustaining relationships with current residents is just as important as building relationships with the new residents.
They Plan and Attend Events!
Do you love your community resident events? The pool parties? Wine nights? Food Truck Fridays? I bet you did not know that those events are not planned by professional party planners. Those events are all planned by your onsite staff. Not only are they planning events, but they are also hosting them. Most of the time, resident events are taking place after hours. Your leasing consultant stays after hours to mix and mingle and help you feel welcome and “at home”.
They Work with Vendors!
Have you ever had a cleaning company come to your home while you were at work? What about repairs done to your home while you were not able to be there? Your leasing consultant is the “Lord of the Keys”, making sure that entry to your apartment is granted when you cannot be there. This is very helpful because you automatically have someone there, that you hopefully trust, making sure things are done right. This is not an advertised service, but one that is done by a leasing consultant dedicated to your happiness.
They Help Decorate and Design!
Your leasing consultant is oftentimes present when major design decisions are being made by the Community Manager. There are many times when a Community or District Manager will ask a staff opinion on things like wall paint color, counter top material or even flooring. Many people assume that these aesthetics are chosen from a “catalog of generic apartment designs”, but they are not. They are hand chosen by a group of living, breathing employees that know exactly what you want and need. Pretty cool, huh?
They Do Community Service!
The Camden Cares initiatives that you read about once or twice a quarter are all community service efforts that are taken on by community employees. A large number of these employees are leasing consultants. Doing good things for other runs in the veins of a leasing consultant.
How does an exceptional leasing consultant learn to be an exceptional leasing consultant? Well, they are trained by exceptional leasing consultants! Camden has a very successful mentoring program that allows the culture and community expectations to be passed along from leasing generation to leasing generation. This process will oftentimes happen while servicing you at the same time. Some pretty amazing multi-taskers we have here, don’t we?
Last, but not least: They Write Blogs!
If you are an avid reader of the Simply Camden blog site, you will know the authors by their name, not by what they actually do 40 + hours a week. Most of the bloggers that entertain you with their writing skills are leasing consultants that work at your property! Not only are they working to make sure you achieve the Living Excellence that you set out to achieve when you leased at a Camden property, but they are writing blogs at the same time.
