A few weeks back a friend lured me to Ryde, a spin studio in the River Oaks shopping center. My workout routine consists of the Camden Greenway fitness center and my Jazzercise class so I thought, “What the heck? I’ll consider trying spin class,” but I still wasn’t convinced…
…Until she came in with the clincher: Ryde was partnering with Laura Mercier for a makeup demonstration party complete with refreshments, goody bags, and champagne. She had me at Laura.
I went to Ryde that day with zero expectations of how I would like spinning. I left with Jell-o legs and a new true love. Spinning was one of the most fun, adrenaline-filled, heart-pumping workouts I’ve ever done! I 100% recommend spin and Ryde to anyone seeking a new workout in the Houston area.
My favorite part: The lights were kept low 90% of the time during the routine, so I was able to focus on the class leaders and my own progress rather than worry if everyone was staring at my butt (because you know we all think that.)
Here I am trying not to fall off the bike
Knowing throughout my workout that Laura Mercier makeup was waiting for me was a great carrot at the end of the stick. The makeup demonstration was so much fun! I was wowed that the Smooth Finish Foundation Powder and Silk Creme Oil-Free Foundation were able to combat my sweaty face and make me look flawless! In the goody bag, I met my new best friend: the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer. I put this on my face every morning and my makeup goes absolutely nowhere throughout the day.
Cookies, champagne, and makeup! What more could you ask for post-workout?
My day at Ryde in Houston was a great day of firsts for me. If you’ve never tried a spin class, from one cookie-loving, un-athletic kid to another: Try it. You will love it. And if you don’t, then you will appreciate it when you see the results (my Jell-o legs shortly turned to hello legs). Ryde is easy to get to for any of Camden’s Houston Inner-Loop Communities, especially Camden Post Oak apartments practically down the street!
Who knew that working out and makeup would be such a great combo?
